Amid a cascade of events and an invigorated national focus on sexual assault and harassment in this country in the fall/winter of 2014, I felt compelled to join the conversation. I created an infographic that would combine information with the intense emotions gripping many of us.

Delving into the data beyond the headline-grabbing scandals, I discovered numbers that surprised me – not least because of their banal acceptance in what many had until recently considered a ‘post-feminist’ society. And once again social media has demonstrated it can be a transformational force for change.

My infographic depicts a selection of harrowing sexual assault data of in Canada, followed by a visual representation of some of the most significant related events of recent months. My intent was to convey the subject in a way that would be powerful and memorable. My hope is to add my voice to the growing clamor that we must change this.
