Integrated public awareness campaign

May is Building Safety Month! This year, we took the OBOA’s BSM public outreach to another level.

Rather than producing a simple informational poster, which the OBOA  commission annually to promote the Building Official profession as well as building safety, we recommended an integrated campaign.

The “Building Code Matters” concept seeks to demystify the Code while piquing the viewer’s interest in the Building Official career. In order to capture people’s attention a tongue-in-cheek graphic “translation” of obscure Building Code ordinances into English plays with the concept in a humorous way.Posters were shipped out to over 444 municipalities province-wide, and a social media campaign created additional reach for the OBOA’s message.
