When I received the call from the Ontario Building Official’s Association, it took me a few minutes to understand that this professional association, in dire need of some creative and marketing TLC, was all about. What is a Building Official? That, the COO explained, was exactly the point. As Ontario Municipal Building Department employees, these highly skilled professionals are “gatekeepers” to Ontario’s $35B+ (annual) construction industry. Facing a “silver tsunami” of retirements however, municipalities were in desperate need of new recruits. After learning as much as we could about the issues and the OBOA which was tasked with raising awareness and modernizing a 60 year old organization, we created this “teaser” video to present at the OBOA’s upcoming Annual Conference.
